How to Use

Dosage

For adults, if used to boost other HIV medicines, the usual dose is 1 to 2 tablets once or twice a day. If prescribed as a full treatment, adults may start with 3 tablets in the morning and 3 tablets 12 hours later, increasing gradually over 14 days.

Method

Take this medicine once or twice a day with food. Swallow the tablets whole; do not chew, divide, or crush them.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 1200 mg (6 tablets) if prescribed as a full treatment.

  • High blood sugar levels

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to ritonavir or any other ingredient in this medicine, or if you have severe liver disease.
  • Do not take this medicine with certain other medicines for allergies, heart problems, migraines, sleep/anxiety, mental health, cholesterol, prostate, and erectile dysfunction. Always tell your doctor about all medicines you are taking.
  • Avoid products containing St. John's Wort (Hypericum perforatum) as they can stop Ritonavir Accord from working properly.
  • This medicine does not cure HIV or AIDS. You may still get infections or other conditions related to HIV/AIDS while taking it. Your doctor will monitor your health regularly.
  • Tell your doctor if you have ongoing diarrhea or vomiting, as this can make your other medicines less effective.

  • Seek immediate medical attention if you experience nausea, vomiting, or stomach pain, as these could be signs of pancreas inflammation.
  • Contact your doctor right away if you develop signs of infection or new symptoms like muscle weakness, heart palpitations, or tremors, as these may indicate an immune system reaction.
  • Report joint stiffness, pain, or difficulty moving to your doctor, as it might be a sign of bone damage (osteonecrosis).
  • Tell your doctor if you experience muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness, especially if you are taking other HIV medicines.
  • Inform your doctor about dizziness, fainting spells, or an abnormal heartbeat, especially if you have a heart condition.
