Risperidon Sandoz is a medicine used to treat mental health conditions like schizophrenia, mania, and aggression in people with dementia or certain behavioral problems in children.
For adults with schizophrenia, the usual starting dose is 2 mg once daily, which may be increased to 4 mg per day. Most patients feel better with a daily dose of 4–6 mg.
Take this medicine by mouth with water. The tablets can be divided into equal doses.
Your doctor will determine your specific maximum daily dose.
Avoid use in older adults. For treatment of psychosis only. Use only in special cases and for a limited time in the management of severe behavioural symptoms of cognitive impairment. Reduce the dose already in mild renal impairment. Increases the risk of cardiovascular events, QT prolongation and orthostatic hypotension. Increases risk for falls and extrapyramidal symptoms.
