Risperidon ratiopharm is an antipsychotic medicine used to treat mental health conditions like schizophrenia and mania, and short-term aggression in dementia patients or children with intellectual disabilities.
Dosage varies depending on the condition and age; always follow your doctor's instructions. For adults, typical starting doses range from 0.25 mg to 2 mg per day, taken once or twice daily.
Take orally. Swallow tablets with water, with or without food. Tablets can be divided into equal doses.
For adults, the maximum daily dose is typically up to 6 mg, depending on the condition and doctor's advice. Treatment for aggression is usually limited to 6 weeks.
Avoid use in older adults. For treatment of psychosis only. Use only in special cases and for a limited time in the management of severe behavioural symptoms of cognitive impairment. Reduce the dose already in mild renal impairment. Increases the risk of cardiovascular events, QT prolongation and orthostatic hypotension. Increases risk for falls and extrapyramidal symptoms.
