Risperidon Orion is an antipsychotic medicine used to treat conditions like schizophrenia, mania, and aggression, helping to relieve symptoms and prevent them from returning.
The usual starting dose for adults with schizophrenia is 2 mg per day, which your doctor may increase.
Swallow the tablets whole with water. You can take them with or without food. Tablets of 1 mg, 2 mg, 3 mg, and 4 mg can be divided, but 0.5 mg tablets cannot.
The maximum daily dose for most adults is usually 6 mg. Your doctor will tell you the best dose.
Avoid use in older adults. For treatment of psychosis only. Use only in special cases and for a limited time in the management of severe behavioural symptoms of cognitive impairment. Reduce the dose already in mild renal impairment. Increases the risk of cardiovascular events, QT prolongation and orthostatic hypotension. Increases risk for falls and extrapyramidal symptoms.
