Risperidon Krka is an antipsychotic medicine used to treat mental health conditions like schizophrenia and mania, and to help with aggression in some specific cases.
The dose varies greatly depending on your condition and age. Your doctor will tell you the exact dose. Adults usually start with 2 mg daily for schizophrenia or mania. For aggression, the starting dose is usually 0.25 mg twice daily. Elderly patients typically start with 0.5 mg twice daily.
Swallow the tablets whole with water. You can take them with or without food.
The maximum daily dose depends on your specific condition and should always be determined by your doctor. For schizophrenia, many patients feel better on 4-6 mg daily. For mania, typical daily doses range from 1 to 6 mg. For aggression in dementia, the maximum is often 2 mg daily. For children with conduct disorders, the maximum daily dose varies by weight, typically 0.75 mg to 1.5 mg daily.
Avoid use in older adults. For treatment of psychosis only. Use only in special cases and for a limited time in the management of severe behavioural symptoms of cognitive impairment. Reduce the dose already in mild renal impairment. Increases the risk of cardiovascular events, QT prolongation and orthostatic hypotension. Increases risk for falls and extrapyramidal symptoms.
