Risperidon Krka is a medicine used to treat conditions like schizophrenia, mania, and short-term aggression in people with Alzheimer's dementia or in children and adolescents with behavioral problems.
Usually, adults start with 2 mg once daily, which may be increased to 4-6 mg per day. Elderly patients usually start with 0.5 mg twice daily. Always follow your doctor's instructions.
Place the tablet on your tongue where it will dissolve quickly, then swallow with or without water. You can also dissolve it in a glass of water and drink immediately. Do not push the tablet through the foil packaging.
Your doctor will determine your maximum daily dose, but it typically does not exceed 6 mg per day for most conditions. For Alzheimer's-related aggression, the maximum is usually 2 mg per day, for a maximum of 6 weeks.
Avoid use in older adults. For treatment of psychosis only. Use only in special cases and for a limited time in the management of severe behavioural symptoms of cognitive impairment. Reduce the dose already in mild renal impairment. Increases the risk of cardiovascular events, QT prolongation and orthostatic hypotension. Increases risk for falls and extrapyramidal symptoms.
