How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is one 1 mg tablet, taken 3 times a day for 2 weeks.

Method

Take the tablets 3 times a day, every 6 to 8 hours. You can take them with or without food. If you have trouble swallowing, you can crush the tablet and mix it with water or soft food like applesauce right before taking it.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 7.5 mg (three 2.5 mg tablets).

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to riociguat or any other ingredients in it.
  • Do not take this medicine if you are using certain medicines for lung blood pressure or erectile dysfunction (like sildenafil, tadalafil).
  • Do not take this medicine if you are using nitrates or nitric oxide donors (medicines for chest pain or heart conditions), including 'poppers'.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have severe liver disease.
  • Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant or planning to get pregnant; you must use effective birth control.

  • Do not take this medicine if you have very low blood pressure (below 90 mmHg for children 6-12 years, or below 95 mmHg for patients over 12 years) before starting treatment.
  • Tell your doctor if you recently had serious lung bleeding or if you are taking blood thinners, as these can increase your risk of bleeding.
  • Tell your doctor if you start or stop smoking during treatment, as your dose might need to be adjusted.
