Method

This medicine is given as an injection into a muscle or directly into a vein by a doctor or healthcare professional. The pre-filled syringe should be warmed to room temperature (25 °C) before use.

There is no defined maximum daily dose, as your doctor will determine the appropriate amount for your specific needs.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Fever and chills
  • Feeling unwell
  • Headache
  • Skin reactions, such as redness and itching
  • Pain or tenderness at the injection site
RARE
  • Severe allergic reactions, including anaphylactic shock
  • Nausea and/or vomiting
  • Low blood pressure
  • Fast heart rate or pulse
  • Joint pain
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Other reactions at the injection site

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Rhophylac if you are allergic to human immunoglobulins or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • You should not receive this injection into a muscle if you have a low platelet count or a severe bleeding disorder. In such cases, the medicine may be given into a vein.
  • Rhophylac can cause allergic reactions. Tell your doctor or nurse right away if you get symptoms like itching, hives, dizziness, or chest pain during or after the injection.
  • Tell your doctor if you have recently been vaccinated, as this medicine might reduce the effect of some live virus vaccines (like measles, mumps, rubella, or chickenpox). You might need to wait 3 months after Rhophylac before getting such vaccines.
  • This medicine can affect the results of some blood tests. Always inform your doctor or nurse that you have received Rhophylac before any blood tests are taken from you or your newborn baby.
