Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to polystyrenesulfonate or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if your blood potassium levels are normal or too low (below 5 mmol/l).
  • Do not use if you have a bowel disease that narrows your digestive tract. Discuss with your doctor if you have abnormal bowel function due to illness or medication, as this can cause bloating, severe constipation, reduced blood flow to the bowel, or bowel rupture. Do not give orally to newborns, especially those with reduced bowel function.
  • Be careful if you have high blood pressure, heart failure, swelling, kidney disease, or bothersome constipation. Treatment may need to be stopped if normal bowel function doesn't return. Do not use laxatives containing magnesium.
  • Avoid taking Resonium at the same time as other oral medicines, as Resonium can bind to them and reduce their effect. Take Resonium at least 3 hours before or after other oral medicines.
