How to Use

Dosage

Typically, start with 2 mg once daily for the first week, then your doctor may increase it to 4 mg once daily from the second week, adjusting as needed.

Method

Take one tablet whole with a glass of water, once a day at the same time; do not break, chew, or crush it.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 24 mg, as prescribed by your doctor.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Fainting
  • Drowsiness
  • Nausea (feeling sick)
  • Sudden sleep attacks (falling asleep without feeling sleepy first)
  • Hallucinations (seeing things that aren't there)
  • Vomiting
  • Dizziness
  • Heartburn
  • Stomach pain
  • Constipation
  • Swelling of legs, feet, or hands
RARE
  • Low blood pressure (feeling dizzy or faint when standing up quickly)
  • Extreme tiredness during the day
  • Mental health issues like serious confusion, false beliefs, or feeling overly suspicious
  • Hiccups
  • Allergic reactions (skin rash, itching, swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat)
  • Aggressive behavior
  • Uncontrolled movements (dyskinesia)
  • Spontaneous penile erection

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to ropinirole or any other ingredient, or if you have severe kidney or liver disease.
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, under 18, have heart problems, serious mental health issues, or a history of unusual urges or behaviors.
  • This medicine can make you feel very sleepy or fall asleep suddenly without warning; do not drive or operate machinery if this happens.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly without your doctor's advice, as it can worsen Parkinson's symptoms and lead to serious health issues.
  • Tell your doctor if you experience new or increased urges or behaviors like gambling, excessive shopping, or increased sexual desire.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C
