How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will determine the correct dose and infusion rate for you individually.

Method

The medicine is given continuously, either under the skin or directly into a vein through a small tube (cannula/catheter) using a pump.

Important

Your doctor will determine your maximum daily dose based on your condition; do not change the dose without your doctor's approval.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Widened blood vessels and skin redness.
  • Pain or tenderness around the infusion site.
  • Skin discoloration or bruising around the infusion site.
  • Headaches.
  • Rash.
  • Nausea.
  • Diarrhea.
  • Jaw pain.
RARE
  • Dizziness.
  • Vomiting.
  • Fainting or dizziness due to low blood pressure.
  • Itching or general skin redness.
  • Swelling of feet, ankles, lower legs, or fluid retention in the body.
  • Bleeding, such as nosebleeds, coughing up blood, blood in urine, bleeding gums, or blood in stools.
  • Joint pain.
  • Muscle pain.
  • Pain in legs and/or arms.
  • Infusion site infection.
  • Infusion site abscess.
  • Decreased number of blood platelets (thrombocytopenia).
  • Bleeding at the infusion site.
  • Bone pain.
  • Skin rashes with discoloration or hives.
  • Skin tissue infection (cellulitis).
  • Excessive pumping of blood from the heart causing shortness of breath, fatigue, swelling in legs and abdomen due to fluid buildup, and persistent cough.
  • Vein inflammation (thrombophlebitis).
  • Bloodstream bacterial infection (bacteremia).
  • Severe bloodstream bacterial infection (sepsis).

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Remodulin if you are allergic to treprostinil or any other ingredients in the medicine.
  • Do not use Remodulin if you have severe lung blood vessel disease (veno-occlusive pulmonary disease), severe liver disease, severe heart problems, or have had a heart attack in the last 6 months.
  • Do not use Remodulin if you have a high risk of bleeding (e.g., active stomach ulcer) or have had a stroke in the last 3 months.
  • Tell your doctor right away if your blood pressure drops too low, your breathing difficulties or cough worsen, you have severe bleeding, or if the infusion site shows signs of infection (redness, swelling, pain, fever).
  • Avoid driving or operating machinery if Remodulin causes dizziness or fainting.

  • Remodulin is generally not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Discuss with your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding.
