How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will determine the right infusion speed and dose for you.

Method

Remodulin is given as a continuous infusion, either under the skin (subcutaneously) in your stomach or thigh, or directly into a vein (intravenously) usually in your neck, chest, or groin. An external pump delivers the medicine.

Important

Your doctor will adjust your infusion rate to ensure it's effective and safe, minimizing side effects.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Widened blood vessels and skin redness
  • Pain or tenderness around the infusion site
  • Skin discoloration or bruising around the infusion site
  • Headaches
  • Rash
  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea
  • Jaw pain
RARE
  • Dizziness
  • Vomiting
  • Feeling lightheaded or fainting due to low blood pressure
  • Itching or skin redness
  • Swelling of feet, ankles, lower legs, or fluid retention in the body
  • Bleeding, such as nosebleeds, coughing up blood, blood in urine or stools, or bleeding gums
  • Joint pain
  • Muscle pain
  • Pain in legs and/or arms
  • Infection at the infusion site
  • Abscess at the infusion site
  • Reduced number of platelets (blood cells that help blood clot)
  • Bleeding at the infusion site
  • Bone pain
  • Rash with skin discoloration or hives
  • Infection of the tissue under the skin (cellulitis)
  • Shortness of breath, fatigue, swelling in legs and abdomen due to fluid buildup, and persistent cough from the heart pumping too much blood
  • Vein inflammation (thrombophlebitis)
  • Bacterial infection in the bloodstream (bacteremia)
  • Severe bacterial infection in the blood (sepsis), which can be life-threatening

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to treprostinil or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have pulmonary veno-occlusive disease, a severe lung condition.
  • Do not use if you have severe liver disease.
  • Do not use if you have certain heart problems, such as a heart attack in the last 6 months, severe irregular heartbeat, severe coronary artery disease, or an uncontrolled heart condition.
  • Do not use if you have a very high risk of bleeding, such as from active stomach ulcers.

  • Do not use if you have had a stroke or other brain blood flow problems in the last 3 months.
  • Tell your doctor if your blood pressure drops during treatment.
  • Contact your doctor right away if you have quickly worsening breathing problems or a persistent cough.
  • Contact your doctor if you experience severe bleeding.
  • If you are receiving Remodulin into a vein, tell your doctor if you get a fever or if the injection site becomes red, swollen, or painful, as this could be a sign of infection.
