Relafalk is an antibiotic that helps treat traveler's diarrhea in adults, especially when you also have nausea, vomiting, gas, frequent bowel movements, or stomach pain.

How to Use

Dosage

Take two tablets in the morning and two tablets in the evening.

Method

Swallow the tablets whole with water. You can take them with or without food. Do not crush or chew.

Important

Do not take more than four tablets in one day, and do not use for more than three days.

  • Hair loss
  • Increased sweating, night sweats
  • Itching
  • Muscle or joint pain, back pain, arm or leg pain, muscle cramps, weak muscles
  • Red or discolored pee, painful or difficult peeing, peeing less than usual
  • Feeling weak, chest pain, fever, generally unwell, pain
  • Changes in liver blood tests
  • Changes in other blood tests (like creatinine and urea levels)
  • Bacterial and fungal infections
  • Low number of blood clotting cells (platelets)
  • Severe allergic reactions, like swelling of the face or throat, itchy rash, red or irritated skin
  • Swelling in ankles and lower legs due to fluid build-up

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to rifamycinnatrium, similar antibiotics, or soy.
  • Do not use if you have a blocked bowel, a hole in your digestive system, or if your diarrhea has fever or blood.
  • Talk to your doctor if your symptoms worsen, you don't feel better after 3 days, or symptoms return after treatment.
  • This medicine is not for children or teens under 18 years old.
  • Your pee might turn reddish while taking this medicine.

  • Do not take if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, unless your doctor says it's okay.
  • Do not drive or use machines if you feel dizzy or tired after taking this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you are taking cyclosporine, warfarin (blood thinner), or birth control pills.
  • Avoid if you have tuberculosis or similar infections treated with related antibiotics.
  • If you take activated charcoal, wait at least 2 hours before taking Relafalk.
  • Get medical help right away if you get severe watery diarrhea, bad stomach cramps, fever, or bloody stools, as this could be a serious infection.
