How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will give you a dose of 0.1 to 0.3 milligrams per kilogram of your body weight.

Method

This medicine is given as an injection into a vein by a doctor or nurse.

Important

The maximum dose you can receive in one day is 100 mg, given in 5 to 15 doses.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Slow heart rate
  • Low blood pressure
RARE
  • Lung infection (pneumonia)
  • Low sodium in the blood
  • Reduced blood flow to the brain, headache
  • Circulatory problems (cardiac arrest), fast heart rate
  • High blood pressure
  • Fluid buildup in the lungs
  • Vomiting, nausea
  • Liver disease
  • Abnormal heart test results (ECG, ultrasound)
  • Changes in blood test results
  • Abnormal urine test results (protein in urine)
  • Inflammation of the chest cavity (mediastinitis)
  • Abnormal number of platelets (blood cells that help blood clot)
  • High blood sugar
  • Stroke, seizures
  • Heart attack, irregular heartbeat, worsening heart function, or specific heart rate problems (like missed beats or feeling your heart beat).
  • Shock, hot flashes
  • Breathing difficulties (including shortness of breath), lung disease, unusually low oxygen in the blood
  • Stomach problems, mouth discharge, bad breath
  • Abnormally high bilirubin in the blood (a yellow substance from red blood cell breakdown)
  • Skin redness, cold sweat
  • Muscle cramps
  • Kidney failure, kidney damage, reduced urination
  • Fever, chills, chest discomfort, pain at the injection site
  • Increased blood pressure in the lungs
  • Sugar (glucose) in urine
  • Skin changes or pressure sensation at the injection site

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to landiolol or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not take if your heart beats very slowly (less than 50 beats per minute).
  • Do not take if you have an irregular heart rhythm that changes from fast to slow (sick sinus syndrome).
  • Do not take if you have a severe heart block, which is a problem with the electrical signals controlling your heartbeat.
  • Do not take if you are in cardiogenic shock (a problem where your heart cannot pump enough blood).

  • Do not take if your blood pressure is very low.
  • Do not take if you have symptoms of severe heart failure.
  • Do not take if you have high blood pressure in your lungs (pulmonary hypertension).
  • Do not take if you have an untreated adrenal gland tumor called pheochromocytoma.
  • Do not take if you have asthma symptoms that are getting worse quickly.
  • Do not take if your body's tissues are too acidic and this cannot be corrected.
  • This medicine contains alcohol and should not be used in children or teenagers.
