How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is 10-40 micrograms per kilogram of body weight per minute, given as an infusion. If a faster effect is needed, a 1-minute dose of 100 micrograms per kilogram per minute may be given, followed by the usual infusion.

Method

It is given as a continuous drip (infusion) into a vein.

Important

The maximum recommended daily dose is 57.6 mg per kilogram of body weight.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to Rapibloc or its ingredients.
  • Do not take if your heart rate is very slow (less than 50 beats per minute).
  • Do not take if you have a condition where your heart rate is very fast or changes quickly from fast to slow (sick sinus syndrome).
  • Do not take if you have severe heart block, which means a problem with your heart's electrical signals.
  • Do not take if you have cardiogenic shock (a serious heart condition where your heart cannot pump enough blood).

  • Do not take if your blood pressure is very low.
  • Do not take if you have severe heart failure.
  • Do not take if you have high blood pressure in your lungs (pulmonary hypertension).
  • Do not take if you have an untreated adrenal gland tumor (pheochromocytoma).
  • Do not take if your asthma symptoms are getting worse quickly.
  • Do not take if you have severe metabolic acidosis (too much acid in your body) that cannot be treated.
