How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you how much Ranoprin to take.

Method

Take the tablets with liquid, either on an empty stomach or with food.

Important

Do not exceed the dose prescribed by your doctor.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Confusion, nervousness, or depression
  • Dizziness, sleep disturbances, nightmares, or hallucinations
  • Excessive drop in blood pressure or heart rate (with associated dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting)
  • Heart palpitations
  • Worsening of heart failure (increased swelling and worsening shortness of breath)
  • Nausea, vomiting, constipation, or diarrhea
  • Allergic skin reactions, redness, itching, or hair loss
  • Fatigue, dizziness, headache, increased sweating, or cold sensation in limbs
  • Worsening of peripheral circulation
  • Shortness of breath
  • Muscle weakness
RARE
  • Reduced blood platelets (may cause nosebleeds and increased bruising) or severe skin redness (purpura)
  • Myasthenia gravis-like symptoms
  • Reduced tear production, dry eyes, or conjunctivitis (eye irritation and redness)
  • Dry mouth
  • Severe reduction in white blood cells (agranulocytosis), causing symptoms like unexplained fever, sore throat, and flu-like symptoms
  • Very low blood sugar in children
  • Sensory disturbances, fainting, dizziness
  • Low blood pressure upon standing (orthostatic hypotension)
  • Constriction of bronchial muscles in asthma patients
  • Onset of hidden diabetes or worsening of existing diabetes control
  • Corneal and conjunctival inflammation (eye pain and redness) or visual disturbances
  • Worsening of chest pain in patients with coronary artery disease
  • Worsening of peripheral circulation in limbs and worsening of intermittent claudication or Raynaud's white finger syndrome
  • Onset or worsening of psoriasis
  • Joint inflammation
  • Kidney failure
  • Impotence or decreased libido
  • Worsening of myasthenia gravis

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to propranolol or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have asthma or severe chronic lung disease.
  • Do not use if you have untreated or symptomatic heart failure (swelling and shortness of breath).
  • Do not use if you have a very slow pulse (below 50 beats per minute before starting treatment).
  • Do not use if you have very low blood pressure (below 90 mmHg before starting treatment).

  • Do not use if you have a heart conduction disorder (like second or third-degree AV block or sick sinus syndrome) and no functioning pacemaker.
  • Do not use if you have severe circulation problems in your limbs (e.g., intermittent claudication or Raynaud's syndrome with cold, white, and numb fingers and toes).
  • Do not use if you have chest pain caused by coronary artery spasms (Prinzmetal's angina).
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver problems.
  • Tell your doctor if you have psoriasis.
  • Tell your doctor if you wear contact lenses, as propranolol can reduce tear production.
  • Tell your doctor if you have diabetes.
  • Tell your doctor if you have an overactive thyroid.
  • Tell your doctor if you have a muscle weakness disease like myasthenia gravis.
  • Inform your anesthetist or dentist that you are taking Ranoprin if you are going to have surgery or dental work.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Non-selective beta blocker. Significant adverse effects include bradycardia, orthostatism, sleep disorders and bronchial contraction. (updated 20.1.2025)
