How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is 1.25 mg or 2.5 mg once a day.

Method

Take the tablet by mouth whole with water at the same time each day. Do not crush or chew it.

Important

The maximum daily dose is usually 10 mg, which can be taken once or split into two doses.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache or feeling tired.
  • Feeling dizzy, especially when standing up.
  • Dry, irritating cough.
  • Stomach pain, diarrhea, indigestion, feeling sick or vomiting.
  • Skin rash.
  • Muscle cramps or muscle pain.
  • Higher potassium levels in blood tests than normal.
RARE
  • Balance problems (vertigo) or confusion.
  • Unusual skin sensations, such as numbness, tingling, or burning.
  • Changes in or loss of taste.
  • Sleeping problems, feeling sad, anxious, or nervous.
  • Blocked nose or worsening asthma.
  • Swollen arms or legs (fluid retention).
  • Blurred vision.
  • Fever.
  • Increased sensitivity to sunlight.
  • Hair loss.

Important Warnings

  • Stop taking this medicine and see a doctor right away if you get a severe allergic reaction, such as swelling of your face, lips, or throat, trouble breathing, or severe skin rashes.
  • If you have severe kidney or liver problems.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you have had a severe allergic swelling (angioedema) before.
  • If you have very low or unstable blood pressure.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Reduce the dose in moderately severe renal impairment. Monitor renal function and potassium concentrations during the pharmacotherapy. Avoid concurrent use of NSAIDs. (updated 14.4.2025)
