How to Use

Dosage

Typically, take one 7.5 mg/46 mg capsule once a day after the first 14 days of treatment. Your doctor will decide the right dose for you.

Method

Swallow the capsules whole once daily in the morning with water or another sugar-free drink. Do not crush or chew them. You can take them with or without food.

Important

Do not take more than one 15 mg/92 mg capsule per day.

  • Serious eye problems, like sudden blurred vision, eye pain, or temporary blindness (seek immediate medical help)
  • Memory loss or problems concentrating
  • Severe allergic reaction, such as swelling of the face or throat, or rash (seek immediate medical help)
  • Muscle cramps or muscle pain

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Qsiva if you are pregnant or could become pregnant and are not using effective birth control, as it can harm your baby.
  • Do not take if you are allergic to phentermine, topiramate, or any other ingredients in Qsiva, or to similar medicines for asthma, stuffy nose, or eye problems.
  • Do not use Qsiva if you are taking or have taken certain depression medications (MAOIs) within the last 14 days.
  • Tell your doctor if you have heart problems or a fast heartbeat, as Qsiva can make these worse. Your doctor will check your heart rate regularly.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have had mood problems, depression, or suicidal thoughts, as Qsiva can increase these risks.

  • Drink plenty of water every day to help prevent kidney stones, which can be a risk with Qsiva.
  • If you have sudden blurry vision or eye pain, stop taking Qsiva and see a doctor right away, as these could be serious eye problems.
  • Avoid drinking alcohol while taking Qsiva, as it can increase side effects like dizziness and sleepiness.
  • Do not drive or operate machines until you know how Qsiva affects you, as it can cause dizziness, vision problems, or make you less alert.
