Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Stomach cramps or pain
  • Irritation of the stomach or bowels, or changes in the color of the intestinal lining (which usually goes away after stopping the medicine)
  • Itching, hives, or skin rash
  • Your urine may change color, but this is harmless
  • Nausea or diarrhea, especially if you take too much
RARE
  • Severe allergic reactions, including difficulty breathing or swallowing, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, or a severe itchy, red rash. Stop using the medicine and seek immediate medical help.
  • Severe dehydration, low blood pressure, feeling very tired, muscle cramps or weakness, or problems with calcium, magnesium, or potassium levels in your body due to long-term or excessive use.
  • Kidney problems or increased activity of the adrenal glands, especially with long-term or excessive use.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to senna glycosides or any other ingredient in the tablets.
  • Do not use if you have an inflammatory bowel disease (like Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis), have severe dehydration, or problems with your body's salt balance (e.g., low potassium).
  • Do not use if you have sudden, sharp, or ongoing stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. These could be signs of a serious bowel problem.
  • Talk to your doctor if your constipation does not improve, if your symptoms get worse, or if you need to use the medicine for more than a week, as long-term use can make your bowel lazy.
  • Do not use if you have recently had abdominal surgery, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you are giving it to a child under 12 years old (unless a doctor says so).
