How to Use

Dosage

The doctor will decide the correct dose for you or your child.

Method

It is administered to your or your child's lungs using a special CE-marked device.

Important

The maximum daily dose is determined by the doctor and will be gradually reduced at the end of treatment.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Low platelet count
  • Low blood pressure
  • Collapsed lung or air in the chest around the lung
RARE
  • Increased methemoglobin levels, leading to reduced oxygen transport in the blood
  • Slow heartbeat or low oxygen levels in the blood due to suddenly stopping treatment
  • Headache, dizziness, dry throat, or shortness of breath if accidentally exposed to nitric oxide (e.g., from a leak)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you or your child are allergic to nitric oxide or have abnormal heart circulation.
  • If you or your child develop shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, contact a doctor immediately.
  • This medicine may affect how your blood carries oxygen, so blood tests will be taken and the dose adjusted if needed.
  • Nitric oxide can form nitrogen dioxide, which may irritate airways; your doctor will monitor levels and adjust treatment as needed.
  • Nitric oxide can affect blood clotting. Watch for any signs of bleeding or bruising and contact your doctor immediately if you notice any.

  • This medicine should not be used in preterm infants born before 34 weeks of gestation.
  • Do not stop treatment suddenly, as it can cause low blood pressure.
