This eye drop medicine helps reduce swelling and redness in the front part of your eye for conditions that are not caused by infections and respond to this type of medicine.

How to Use

Dosage

Put 1 to 2 drops into the affected eye(s) 3 to 4 times a day. For the first two days, your doctor may tell you to use 1 to 2 drops every hour or every other hour.

Method

Wash your hands. Open a single-dose container, tilt your head back, gently pull down your lower eyelid to make a pocket, look up, and put 1-2 drops inside the lower eyelid. Close your eye and gently press the inner corner for one minute. Do not let the dropper tip touch your eye or any other surface.

Important

Do not use this medicine for more than one month unless your doctor says it's okay, as long-term use needs regular eye pressure checks.

Possible Side Effects

RARE
  • Increased eye pressure (with long-term use)
  • Burning, itching, eye irritation, feeling of grit in the eye
  • Blurred vision
  • Clouding of the eye lens (cataract)
  • Allergic reactions like hives or rash, headache, pupils getting bigger, altered taste
  • Eye infection caused by bacteria, fungi, or viruses
  • Eye inflammation, drooping eyelid, trouble focusing eyes

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to this medicine or any of its ingredients.
  • Do not use if you have an eye infection or sore that is not being treated.
  • Do not use if you have high pressure in your eye (glaucoma) that isn't controlled by other medicines.
  • Do not use if you have a severe herpes infection in your eye (dendritic keratitis).
  • Only use this medicine if your doctor has said your red eye is due to an infection.

  • Tell your doctor if you've had a herpes eye infection before. You'll need close doctor supervision if you use this medicine.
  • Do not wear contact lenses while using Provistopto.
  • If your vision gets blurry after using the drops, wait until it's clear before driving or using machines.
  • If you use these drops for a long time, especially with a bad eye injury, calcium might build up and cause cloudy spots on the front of your eye. This is rare.
