How to Use

Dosage

Usually 10-40 mg 3-4 times a day or 40-160 mg 2 times a day, depending on the condition.

Method

Take the tablets with plenty of liquid, such as a glass of water.

Important

The maximum dose can be up to 320 mg per day, usually divided into multiple doses.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Sleep problems, nightmares
  • Slow heart rate
  • Poor circulation (cold hands and feet)
  • Shortness of breath
  • Muscle weakness
  • Tiredness
RARE
  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
  • Bruising and nosebleeds (due to low platelet count)
  • Fever, sore throat (signs of low white blood cells)
  • Low blood sugar in children, seizures
  • Hallucinations, depression, psychosis, confusion
  • Numbness, tingling, fainting, dizziness, memory loss
  • Dry eyes, vision problems
  • Worsening heart failure, heart block
  • Dizziness/fainting when standing up (low blood pressure)
  • Asthma attacks, shortness of breath (narrowing of airways)
  • Hair loss, skin rashes, worsening psoriasis, purple skin spots
  • Changes in blood fat levels
  • Worsening or new symptoms like myasthenia gravis (muscle weakness)
  • Increased sweating
  • Increase in certain blood antibodies
  • Headache
  • Eye inflammation
  • Constipation, dry mouth

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to propranolol or any other ingredient.
  • Do not use if you have very low blood pressure or a very slow heart rate.
  • Do not use if you have asthma, severe lung disease, or severe heart failure that is not well-controlled.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly without your doctor's permission, as it can worsen your condition.
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver, kidney, or heart disease, diabetes, or an overactive thyroid.

Category C
