How to Use

Dosage

Always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's instructions for the correct dose.

Method

Take the tablets with or without food; the tablet can be divided into two equal doses.

Important

The maximum daily dose will be determined by your doctor; do not exceed it.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Upper stomach pain, heartburn, nausea, constipation.
  • Headache, tiredness, light-headedness, dizziness.
  • Vision problems.
  • Ringing or humming in ears, hearing problems.
  • Worsening heart failure (swelling, shortness of breath).
  • Mouth inflammation, diarrhea, vomiting, digestive problems.
  • Skin symptoms (e.g., itching, hives, purple spots, bruises), increased sweating.
RARE
  • Increased potassium levels in blood.
  • Mood changes, depression, difficulty concentrating, sleeplessness, sleep problems, memory and thinking problems.
  • Palpitations (fast or irregular heartbeat).
  • Gastrointestinal bleeding or ulcers, vomiting blood, bloody stools.
  • Elevated liver enzymes, yellowing of skin or eyes (jaundice).
  • Menstrual problems.
  • Inflammation of the optic nerve behind the eyeball.
  • Severe allergic reactions (e.g., sudden swelling of the face, throat, tongue, hands, or feet).
  • Hearing loss.
  • Worsening of asthma.
  • Liver inflammation.
  • Hair loss, sensitivity to light, skin changes with blisters (pseudoporphyria).
  • Muscle pain, muscle weakness.
  • Cloudy cornea, inflamed or swollen optic nerve.
  • Abnormal blood test results.
  • Meningitis, worsening of Parkinson's disease.
  • Inflammation of blood vessels.
  • Pneumonia (lung inflammation).
  • Swelling of salivary glands, pancreas inflammation.
  • Severe peeling or blistering skin or mucous membrane reactions (e.g., Stevens-Johnson syndrome, erythema multiforme).
  • Blood in urine, kidney side effects (e.g., kidney failure, kidney inflammation).

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to naproxen, aspirin, other anti-inflammatory pain relievers, or any other ingredients in Pronaxen.
  • Do not take if you have asthma.
  • Do not take if you have a stomach or duodenal ulcer, or if you have had bleeding or a perforation in your digestive system before when using anti-inflammatory pain relievers.
  • Do not take if you have a bleeding disorder or are taking blood thinners (e.g., warfarin).
  • Do not take if you have severe heart failure.

  • Do not use during the last three months of pregnancy.
  • If you experience upper abdominal pain while taking Pronaxen, stop the medicine and contact your doctor immediately.
  • Stop taking the medicine and contact your doctor immediately if you develop severe skin reactions, such as widespread rashes or blisters.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. For short-term use only. Consider adverse renal effect in chronic kidney disease. Do not use in severe renal impairment. Increases swelling, worsens renal and heart failure and causes cardiovascular events. Increases risk of bleeding, especially in the gastrointestinal tract. Consider potential interactions especially with preparations that increase risk of bleeding. (updated 16.9.2024)
