How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is 60 mg per kilogram of body weight, given once a week.

Method

Prolastina is given as a slow infusion directly into a vein.

Important

This medicine is given once a week, not daily. The infusion rate should not be faster than 0.08 ml per kg of body weight per minute.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Prolastina if you are allergic to it or have a known IgA deficiency, as this can cause severe allergic reactions.
  • Tell your doctor if you have severe heart failure, as Prolastina might temporarily increase your blood volume.
  • If you notice any signs of an allergic reaction during the infusion, tell your doctor or nurse right away.
  • Stop smoking, as tobacco smoke can make Prolastina less effective in your lungs.
  • There is a small risk of infection from blood products; your doctor might recommend Hepatitis A and B vaccinations.
