ProHance is a contrast agent used in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to help doctors see your brain, spinal cord, surrounding tissues, or your entire body (if you are an adult) more clearly.
The typical dose is 0.2 ml per kilogram of body weight for adults and children for brain and spinal cord scans, and for whole-body scans in adults. In some cases, the dose for brain and spinal cord scans may be increased to 0.6 ml per kilogram for adults.
ProHance is given as an injection into a vein by a healthcare professional before your scan.
You will usually receive only one dose for your scan. If you have severe kidney problems, or are a newborn or infant, you should only receive one dose, and not another dose for at least 7 days.
