How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor or healthcare professional will give you a dose tailored to your condition and weight. Typically, this is 3.75 mg, 11.25 mg, or 30 mg, given at specific intervals.

Method

This medicine is given as an injection under the skin (subcutaneously) by a doctor or nurse.

Important

This is not a daily medicine. Your dose is typically given every 4 weeks, 12 weeks, or 6 months, as instructed by your doctor.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Pain, bruising, inflammation, or lumps at the injection site.
  • Headache.
  • Dizziness, nausea, or vomiting.
  • Rash or acne.
  • Hot flashes and increased sweating.
  • Mood swings (with long-term use) or depression.
  • Muscle or joint pain.
  • Tiredness or weakness.
  • Swelling (fluid retention).
  • Shortness of breath.
  • For men: Shrinking testicles or erection problems.
  • For women: Vaginal infection, decreased sex drive, breast pain, smaller breasts, or vaginal dryness.
  • For children: Stomach ache, vaginal bleeding, or discharge.
RARE
  • Mood changes (short-term use) or worsening mental health problems like crying, irritability, or aggressive behavior.
  • Weight changes.
  • Vision disturbances, tinnitus (ringing in ears), or hearing loss.
  • Severe allergic reactions, which can cause breathing difficulties, fever, or rash.
  • Convulsions (seizures), sensory disturbances (like tingling or numbness), or increased pressure inside the skull (which can cause headaches and vision problems).
  • Fast heart rate, high blood pressure, or changes in heart's electrical activity (ECG).
  • Diarrhea, constipation, mouth sores, or dry mouth.
  • Hair loss, nail problems, increased hair growth, or itchy skin.
  • Changes in liver enzymes, blood counts, or kidney values.
  • Back or bone pain, muscle stiffness.
  • Urination problems, increased need to urinate, or blood in urine.
  • Lung inflammation.
  • Severe skin rashes, such as blisters, peeling skin, or target-like spots (e.g., Stevens-Johnson syndrome).
  • For men: Breast enlargement.
  • For women: Painful intercourse or irritability.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to leuprorelin acetate or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you are pregnant, trying to get pregnant, or breastfeeding.
  • Do not use if you have unexplained vaginal bleeding.
  • Tell your doctor if you feel depressed, as this medicine can cause or worsen depression.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you or your child experience severe or persistent headaches, vision problems, or ringing in the ears.

  • Stop using the medicine and seek immediate medical help if you develop severe skin reactions, such as blistering, peeling skin, or target-like rashes.
  • Inform your doctor if you have spinal cancer (metastases), fatty liver, or a urinary tract blockage, as these conditions require careful monitoring.
  • Tell your doctor if you have heart rhythm problems, high blood sugar, diabetes, or high cholesterol, as these may increase risks during treatment.
  • For children being treated for early puberty, bone density may decrease during treatment; your doctor will monitor this.
  • If a girl experiences vaginal bleeding after the first few months of early puberty treatment, the cause should be investigated by a doctor.
