How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is 100-300 mg daily. For first aid in a heart attack, take 250-500 mg (5-10 tablets of 50 mg or 2.5-5 tablets of 100 mg).

Method

Swallow the tablets whole with plenty of liquid, like a glass of water. For first aid in a heart attack, chew or crush the tablets to help them work faster.

Important

The usual maximum recommended dose is 300 mg daily. For first aid in a heart attack, up to 500 mg may be taken.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Dizziness
  • Ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
  • Nosebleeds, runny nose
  • Stomach and intestinal inflammation and pain, bleeding in the digestive tract
  • Rash, itching
  • Bleeding in urinary or genital organs
RARE
  • Iron deficiency anemia
  • Bleeding in the brain or inside the skull
  • Bruises
  • Nasal congestion
  • Gum bleeding, ulcers in the digestive tract
  • Liver failure
  • Hives
  • Hypersensitivity, drug allergy, swelling of face, lips, mouth, tongue or throat
  • Anemia due to bleeding
  • Intramuscular bleeding
  • Hole (perforation) in the lining of the digestive tract
  • Elevated liver enzyme levels in blood tests
  • Kidney problems, acute kidney failure
  • Anaphylactic shock (severe allergic reaction)
  • Breakdown of red blood cells, which can cause anemia
  • Heart and breathing symptoms (linked to an allergic reaction)
  • Bleeding during surgery
  • Respiratory disease
  • Intestinal blockage (Intestinal Diaphragm Disease)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to acetylsalicylic acid or similar pain relievers.
  • Do not take if you have had an asthma attack from salicylates or other anti-inflammatory pain relievers.
  • Do not take if you have a tendency to bleed easily (e.g., hemophilia).
  • Do not take if you have or have had stomach or duodenal ulcers.
  • Do not take if you have severe liver, kidney, or heart failure.

  • Do not take if you are using 15 mg or more of methotrexate per week.
  • Talk to your doctor as acetylsalicylic acid increases the risk of bleeding during surgery.
  • Do not use doses over 100 mg per day during the last three months of pregnancy.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Initiation of treatment under supervision of a physician. Do not use in severe renal impairment. Consider potential interactions especially with other drugs that increase the risk of bleeding. (updated 19.9.2025)
