How to Use

Dosage

The typical daily dose is between 150 mg and 600 mg.

Method

Take the capsules whole with water, either 2 or 3 times a day as prescribed by your doctor. If twice a day, take one in the morning and one in the evening. If three times a day, take one in the morning, one in the afternoon, and one in the evening.

Important

Do not take more than 600 mg in a single day.

Important Warnings

  • If you experience swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, or a widespread rash, contact your doctor immediately. These could be signs of a severe allergic reaction.
  • This medicine can cause dizziness and sleepiness, which may increase the risk of falls, especially in older adults. Be careful until you know how it affects you.
  • Tell your doctor right away if your vision changes or becomes blurry, or if you lose your sight.
  • If you have diabetes and gain weight while taking this medicine, your doctor may need to adjust your diabetes medication.
  • If you have heart problems, tell your doctor before taking this medicine, as some patients have experienced heart failure.

  • If you notice you are urinating less while taking this medicine, tell your doctor.
  • If you have thoughts of harming yourself or suicide, contact your doctor right away.
  • If you experience constipation, especially if you also take other medicines that cause it, tell your doctor.
  • This medicine can cause dependence. Tell your doctor if you have a history of alcohol or drug abuse, or if you feel you are becoming dependent on this medicine.
  • If you have seizures, contact your doctor immediately.
  • If you have serious health conditions like liver or kidney disease, tell your doctor.
  • If you have breathing difficulties, nervous system disorders, respiratory problems, kidney problems, or are over 65 years old, tell your doctor. Contact your doctor if you experience shallow breathing.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly. Talk to your doctor first, who will guide you on how to gradually reduce the dose over at least one week.
  • Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, unless your doctor tells you to. It can harm the baby. If you are a woman of childbearing age, you must use effective birth control.
  • This medicine can make you dizzy, sleepy, and affect your concentration. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how it affects you.
  • Do not drink alcohol while taking this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor about all other medicines you take, especially sedatives or pain relievers (opioids), as combining them with Pregabalin ratiopharm can cause severe side effects like serious breathing problems or coma.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Sedative. Note especially central nervous system adverse effects. Reduce the dose already in mild renal impairment. Addiction may develop. (updated 14.4.2025)
