How to Use

Dosage

The usual daily dose is between 150 mg and 600 mg. Your doctor will decide the right dose for you.

Method

Take the capsules by mouth, whole with water. You will take the medicine either two or three times a day, at about the same times each day.

Important

Do not take more than 600 mg in one day unless your doctor tells you to.

  • Swelling in parts of your body, including arms and legs
  • Feeling drunk or walking unusually
  • Weight gain
  • Muscle cramps, pain in joints, back, or limbs
  • Sore throat
RARE
  • Loss of appetite or weight loss
  • Low or high blood sugar
  • Changes in how you see yourself, restlessness, depression, strong anxiety
  • Seeing or hearing things that aren't there, strange dreams, panic attacks, not caring, aggression
  • Increased or decreased sex drive, or problems with sexual function (e.g., trouble having an orgasm, delayed ejaculation)
  • Eye problems like changes in vision, tunnel vision, flashing lights, jerky eye movements, eye pain, dry or watery eyes
  • Heart rhythm problems, including a fast or slow heartbeat, or heart failure
  • Flushing or hot flashes
  • Trouble breathing, dry or stuffy nose
  • More saliva, heartburn, numbness around the mouth
  • Sweating, rash, chills, or fever
  • Muscle twitching, swollen joints, stiff muscles, muscle pain, neck pain, chest pain
  • Trouble urinating, painful urination, or incontinence (leaking urine)
  • Weakness, thirst, or a tight feeling in the chest
  • Changes in blood and liver tests (e.g., increased muscle enzymes, decreased blood platelets, changes in kidney values)
  • Allergic reactions like face swelling, itching, hives, runny nose, nosebleed, cough, or snoring
  • Painful periods
  • Cold hands and feet
  • Loss of smell
  • Shaky vision, changes in how you see depth, very bright vision, or loss of eyesight
  • Enlarged pupils or crossed eyes
  • Cold sweat, a tight feeling in the throat, or a swollen tongue
  • Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas)
  • Trouble swallowing
  • Slow or decreased movements, trouble writing
  • Fluid buildup in the abdomen or lungs
  • Seizures
  • Abnormal heart rhythm shown on an EKG
  • Muscle damage
  • Nipple discharge, unusual breast growth, or breast growth in men
  • Missed periods
  • Kidney failure, less urine, or inability to urinate
  • Low white blood cell count
  • Restlessness, thoughts or actions related to suicide
  • Severe allergic reactions, including trouble breathing, eye inflammation, and severe skin rashes (like Stevens-Johnson syndrome)
  • Yellow skin or eyes (jaundice)
  • Parkinson-like symptoms such as shaking, slow movements, or stiff muscles
  • Liver failure
  • Hepatitis (liver inflammation)
  • Becoming dependent on the medicine

Important Warnings

  • If you get swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat, or a widespread rash, contact your doctor right away.
  • Stop taking this medicine and see a doctor right away if you get severe skin reactions like red, blistering, or peeling skin.
  • This medicine can make you feel dizzy or sleepy, which might cause falls, especially in older people. Be careful until you know how it affects you.
  • Tell your doctor right away if your vision becomes blurry, you lose your vision, or notice any other changes to your eyesight.
  • If you have diabetes and gain weight while taking this medicine, your diabetes medicine might need to be adjusted.

  • Tell your doctor if you have any heart problems, as this medicine can sometimes cause heart failure.
  • If you notice you are urinating less while taking this medicine, tell your doctor. You might have kidney problems.
  • If you have thoughts of harming yourself or suicide, contact your doctor right away.
  • Tell your doctor if you get constipation, especially if you tend to get it often, as this medicine can make stomach issues worse when taken with certain pain medicines.
  • Tell your doctor if you have a history of alcohol, prescription medicine, or drug misuse or dependence, as you might be at a higher risk of becoming dependent on Pregabalin Krka.
  • If you experience seizures while taking this medicine or shortly after stopping it, contact your doctor immediately.
  • If you have other serious health problems, like liver or kidney disease, tell your doctor, as this medicine has been linked to brain function issues in some patients.
  • If you have nerve or breathing problems, kidney issues, or are over 65, your doctor might change your dose. Contact your doctor if you have trouble breathing or shallow breaths.
  • This medicine is not for children or teenagers under 18 years old.
  • This medicine can make you dizzy, sleepy, and affect your ability to focus. Do not drive or use complex machines until you know how it affects you.
  • Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding unless your doctor tells you to. Using it in early pregnancy can cause birth defects.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Sedative. Note especially central nervous system adverse effects. Reduce the dose already in mild renal impairment. Addiction may develop. (updated 14.4.2025)
