How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will decide your dose, usually between 150–600 mg per day.

Method

Take the capsules by mouth with water, exactly as your doctor tells you. You can take the medicine two (morning and evening) or three times (morning, afternoon, and evening) a day, always around the same time.

Important

The maximum daily dose is usually 600 mg. Do not take more than your doctor has prescribed.

Important Warnings

  • If you experience an allergic reaction, such as swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat, or a widespread rash, contact your doctor immediately.
  • Stop taking this medicine and see a doctor immediately if you develop severe skin reactions, such as reddish patches or blisters on your skin.
  • This medicine can cause dizziness and drowsiness, which may increase the risk of falls, especially in older patients. Be careful until you know how the medicine affects you.
  • If your vision becomes blurry or changes, tell your doctor immediately. These changes are usually temporary.
  • If you have diabetes and gain weight while taking this medicine, your diabetes medication may need to be adjusted.

  • If you have a heart condition, tell your doctor before starting this medicine, as it has caused heart failure in some patients.
  • If you notice a decrease in urination, tell your doctor, as kidney function may be impaired.
  • If you have thoughts of harming yourself or suicide, contact your doctor immediately.
  • Tell your doctor if you have ever abused alcohol, prescription medicines, or drugs, as you may have a higher risk of becoming dependent on this medicine.
  • If you experience seizures while taking this medicine or soon after stopping it, contact your doctor immediately.
  • Impaired brain function has been reported in some patients. Tell your doctor if you have had a serious illness, such as liver or kidney disease.
  • If you have nervous system, respiratory, or kidney diseases, or if you are over 65, and experience breathing difficulties, contact your doctor. Your doctor may adjust your dose.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly. Discuss with your doctor how to safely stop the medication over at least one week.
