How to Use

Dosage

Typically, use 1-2 drops in the affected eye(s) once an hour for the first two days, then 1-2 drops 2-4 times a day.

Method

Wash your hands. Shake the bottle well. Tilt your head back, look up, and gently pull down your lower eyelid to form a pocket. Turn the bottle upside down and squeeze 1-2 drops into your eye. Release the lower eyelid, close your eye, and press the inner corner of your eye with your finger for one minute. Do not touch your eye with the bottle tip. Close the cap immediately after use.

Important

Up to 2 drops once an hour for the first two days (max 24 drops/day), then up to 2 drops four times a day (max 8 drops/day).

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Eye irritation, mild eye pain, red eyes
  • Temporary blurred vision, feeling of something in the eye
  • Dilated pupils
RARE
  • Increased eye pressure (glaucoma), cataracts (cloudy lens), severe eye infections, eye surface wounds or holes, severe eye pain
  • Allergic reaction (rash, itching, hives), headache, drooping eyelid (with long-term use), taste disorders

Important Warnings

  • Do not use PRED FORTE if you are allergic to prednisolone or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have a viral, fungal, or bacterial infection or tuberculosis in your eye.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have had eye wounds, thinning eye tissue, glaucoma, or cataract surgery.
  • Contact your doctor if you notice blurred vision or other vision problems.
  • Do not give this medicine to children under 12 without a doctor's advice, as it contains boron and may affect their fertility.

  • If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine, as steroids can be harmful to the baby.
  • PRED FORTE can cause temporary blurred vision. Do not drive or use machines until your vision is clear.
  • Remove contact lenses before using this medicine and wait at least 15 minutes before putting them back in.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. For temporary use. Start and continue therapy under supervision by an ophthalmologist. Do not use if fungal or viral infection is suspected. (updated 4.12.2023)
