How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose for adults is 10 to 40 mg once daily, preferably in the evening. Your doctor will tell you the exact dose.

Method

Take the tablet with about half a glass of water. You can take it with or without food. The tablet can be divided into equal doses.

Important

The maximum daily dose is usually 40 mg.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to pravastatin sodium or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not use if blood tests show you have serious liver problems.
  • Do not use if you are pregnant, might be pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you experience unexpected muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness, especially if you also have a fever.
  • Seek immediate medical help if you develop signs of a severe allergic reaction, such as swelling of the face, lips, or throat, or trouble breathing.

  • Tell your doctor if you have kidney disease, an underactive thyroid, problems with alcohol, a history of muscle problems, or myasthenia (a muscle weakness condition).
  • If you are taking certain antibiotics (like fusidic acid), you may need to temporarily stop this medicine. Your doctor will advise you.
