How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will start you on a low dose, usually 0.26 mg once daily for the first week, and gradually increase it every 5-7 days until your symptoms are controlled. The usual dose is 1.05 mg daily, but your doctor may adjust it up to 3.15 mg or as low as 0.26 mg daily if needed.

Method

Take one tablet once a day, around the same time each day. You can take it with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with water. Do not chew, break, or crush the tablet.

The maximum daily dose is 3.15 mg, as directed by your doctor.

Possible Side Effects

  • Feeling sleepy
  • Feeling dizzy
  • Uncontrolled movements (dyskinesia)

  • Swelling, usually in the legs (fluid retention)
  • Headache
  • Low blood pressure (hypotension)
  • Constipation

  • Blurred vision or other vision problems
  • Weight loss, including loss of appetite
RARE
  • False beliefs (delusions)
  • Paranoia (excessive worry)
  • Feeling restless
  • Confusion, decreased awareness, impaired sense of reality (delirium)
  • Excessive daytime sleepiness and sudden falling asleep
  • Memory loss
  • Increased movements and inability to stay still (hyperkinesia)
  • Fainting
  • Weight gain
  • Allergic reactions (e.g., rash, itching)
  • Heart failure (heart problems causing shortness of breath or swollen ankles)
  • Improper secretion of antidiuretic hormone (a hormone imbalance)
  • Shortness of breath
  • Hiccups
  • Lung infection (pneumonia)
  • Strong urges to act on harmful impulses, such as problem gambling, increased sexual urges, uncontrolled shopping, or binge/compulsive eating
  • Feeling overly excited or happy (mania)
  • Spontaneous erection

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to pramipexole or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • This medicine can cause you to see, hear, or feel things that are not real (hallucinations). If this happens, do not drive or use machines.
  • This medicine can make you feel sleepy or suddenly fall asleep, especially if you have Parkinson's disease. If this happens, do not drive or use machines and tell your doctor.
  • If you have advanced Parkinson's disease and also take levodopa, you might get uncontrolled movements when your dose of Pramipexole Orion is increased.
  • Tell your doctor if you experience muscle stiffness where your body or neck is hard to keep straight, or if your head, lower back, or back bends to the side.

  • Tell your doctor if you have had psychosis (mental health problems) or vision problems. Your eyes should be checked regularly.
  • If you have severe heart or blood vessel disease, your blood pressure should be checked regularly, especially when you start treatment, to avoid a sudden drop in blood pressure when standing up.
  • This medicine can cause strong urges to behave in unusual ways that could harm you or others, such as gambling, overeating, excessive shopping, or increased sexual urges. Tell your doctor if you notice any of these behaviors.
  • Tell your doctor if you or your caregiver notice symptoms of mania (feeling excited, happy, or over-energetic) or delirium (confusion, decreased awareness).
  • Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly without talking to your doctor. Stopping suddenly can cause withdrawal symptoms like depression, apathy, anxiety, tiredness, sweating, or pain.
  • Parts of the tablet may appear in your stool. This is normal, but tell your doctor if you see them.
  • Avoid taking this medicine with antipsychotics. Be careful if you take medicines that make you sleepy or drink alcohol.

Category C
