How to Use

Dosage

Take exactly as your doctor tells you. For Parkinson's disease, the dose is usually split into three equal doses daily, starting with 0.088 mg three times a day. For restless legs syndrome, take once a day in the evening, 2-3 hours before sleep, starting with 0.088 mg once a day. Your doctor will adjust the dose slowly.

Method

You can take the tablets with or without food. Swallow the tablets whole with water.

Important

For Parkinson's disease, the maximum daily dose is usually 3.3 mg. For restless legs syndrome, the maximum daily dose is 0.54 mg (0.75 mg pramipexole salt).

  • Feeling overly worried (paranoia)
  • False beliefs (delusions)
  • Feeling restless
  • Severe confusion or reduced awareness (delirium)
  • Sudden uncontrollable movements (hyperkinesia)
  • Fainting
  • Weight gain
  • Allergic reactions (e.g., skin rash, itching)
  • Heart problems causing breathlessness or swollen ankles (heart failure)
  • Problems with a hormone that controls body water (inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion)
  • Shortness of breath
  • Hiccups
  • Lung infection (pneumonia)
  • Feeling extremely excited or happy (mania)
  • Specific strong urges or behaviors that are hard to control, like gambling, overeating, overspending, or increased sexual urges
  • Memory loss
  • Spontaneous erection

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to pramipexole or any other ingredient.
  • Tell your doctor if you have kidney problems, heart problems, vision problems, or any mental health issues like hallucinations or psychosis.
  • Inform your doctor if you experience unusual movements (dyskinesia) or difficulty keeping your body straight (dystonia), especially if you also take levodopa for Parkinson's.
  • This medicine can cause sleepiness or sudden sleep attacks. Do not drive or operate machinery if you feel drowsy or have hallucinations.
  • Tell your doctor if you or your family notice unusual urges or behaviors like gambling, overeating, excessive spending, or increased sexual urges.

  • Inform your doctor if you experience confusion, agitation, high mood (mania), or altered awareness (delirium). Also, report symptoms like depression, apathy, anxiety, fatigue, sweating, or pain if they occur when stopping or reducing the dose.
  • Be careful with alcohol or other medicines that make you sleepy, as this can affect your ability to drive or use machines.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly, especially if you have Parkinson's disease, as it can cause serious withdrawal symptoms. Your doctor will help you reduce the dose slowly.
  • Pramipexole Orion is not recommended for children under 18 years old.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Sedative. Reduce the dose in moderately severe renal impairment. Common adverse effects include orthostatic hypotension, confusion, sudden episodes of deep sleep, impulse control disorders and lower limb edema.. . (updated 6.10.2025)
