How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is 4 mg once a day.

Method

Swallow the capsules whole with water. You can take them with or without food. Take your capsules at roughly the same time each day. Do not break, open, or chew the capsules.

Important

The maximum daily dose is usually 4 mg, as prescribed by your doctor.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Low white blood cells (leading to infections like fever, sore throat, mouth sores)
  • Low red blood cells (anemia, causing tiredness and weakness)
  • Low platelets (causing easy bleeding or bruising, like nosebleeds)
  • Serious blood infections (sepsis) with fast breathing, fast heart rate, fever, confusion
  • Lung infections (pneumonia, bronchitis)
  • Shingles
  • Severe diarrhea (prolonged or bloody)
  • Blood clots (chest pain, leg pain/swelling, shortness of breath)
  • Severe allergic reactions (face/lip/tongue swelling, trouble breathing)
  • New skin cancers (growths or changes on skin)
  • Reactivation of Hepatitis B (yellow skin/eyes, dark urine, stomach pain)
  • Severe skin reactions (widespread rash, high fever, swollen glands)
  • Feeling very tired or weak
  • Dizziness, spinning sensation (vertigo), or shaking
  • Headache
  • Feeling confused or depressed
  • Numbness, tingling, burning, or pain in hands and feet
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Blurred vision (cataracts)
  • Constipation, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, or stomach pain
  • Loss of appetite, weight loss
  • Swelling in the abdomen, dry mouth, changes in taste
  • Muscle cramps or weakness
  • Bone pain (back, hip)
  • Fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat
  • High or low blood pressure
  • Heart attack
  • Urinary tract infections, kidney damage
  • Abnormal liver tests
  • Changes in blood salt levels (e.g., low magnesium, high calcium)
  • Fluid buildup causing swelling in body
  • Falls
RARE
  • Stroke
  • Liver inflammation (hepatitis) with yellow skin/eyes, dark urine, pale stools, itching, and abdominal pain
  • Tumor lysis syndrome (breakdown of cancer cells releasing toxic substances into the blood, leading to kidney problems)
  • Underactive thyroid (causing tiredness, sluggishness, muscle weakness, slow heart rate, and weight gain)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant, think you might be pregnant, or plan to become pregnant, as it can cause serious birth defects or death to an unborn baby.
  • Both men and women taking this medicine must use effective contraception to prevent pregnancy during treatment and for a period after.
  • Do not take if you are allergic to Pomalidomide or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • This medicine can increase your risk of blood clots. Tell your doctor if you have had blood clots before.
  • This medicine can cause tiredness, dizziness, or confusion. Do not drive or use machines if you feel these effects.
