How to Use

Dosage

For adults, the recommended dose is either 20 mg (fixed dose) or 0.24 mg per kg of body weight daily. For children (1 to under 18 years), the dose is 0.24 mg per kg of body weight daily.

Method

This medicine is given as an injection under the skin.

Important

The recommended dose (20 mg or 0.24 mg/kg) is taken once daily; your doctor may adjust this if you have kidney problems.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea
  • Redness or irritation at the injection site
  • Low red blood cell count (anemia in children)
  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Tiredness or feeling unwell
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Gas
  • Constipation
  • Indigestion
  • Vomiting
  • Stomach problems (such as pain, bloating, or discomfort)
  • Dry mouth
  • Numbness around the mouth
  • Sweating
  • General skin redness
  • Joint pain
  • Muscle and bone pain
RARE
  • Allergic reactions (e.g., rash, swelling around the eyes, shortness of breath)
  • Severe allergic reactions (anaphylactic shock)
  • Unusual dreams, nightmares
  • Heart attack (in patients with risk factors for heart attack)
  • Increased white blood cell count (leukocytosis) in blood tests

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Plerixafor Vivanta if you are allergic to plerixafor or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have or have had heart problems, kidney problems (dose may be adjusted), a high white blood cell count, or a low platelet count.
  • Inform your doctor if you have previously felt faint or dizzy when standing up or sitting down, or if you have fainted after an injection.
  • Plerixafor Vivanta is not recommended for stem cell mobilization if you have leukemia (blood or bone marrow cancer).
  • Do not use Plerixafor Vivanta if you are pregnant, think you might be pregnant, or are planning to become pregnant. Use contraception if you are of childbearing age.

  • Do not breastfeed while using Plerixafor Vivanta, as it is unknown if the medicine passes into breast milk.
  • Plerixafor Vivanta can cause dizziness or tiredness. Avoid driving or operating machinery if you feel dizzy, tired, or unwell.
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you experience a rash, swelling around the eyes, shortness of breath, faintness, or pain in the upper left abdomen or left shoulder shortly after injection.
