How to Use

Dosage

For adults, either a fixed dose of 20 mg or 0.24 mg per kg of body weight daily. For children aged 1 to under 18, it is 0.24 mg per kg of body weight daily. Your doctor may adjust the dose if you have kidney problems.

Method

This medicine is given as an injection under the skin by a doctor or nurse.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea (feeling sick to your stomach)
  • Redness or irritation at the injection site
  • Low red blood cell count in children (anemia), found in lab tests
  • Headache
  • Dizziness, tiredness, or generally feeling unwell
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Gas, constipation, indigestion, or vomiting
  • Stomach problems like pain, bloating, or upset stomach
  • Dry mouth or numbness around the mouth
  • Sweating, general skin redness, joint pain, muscle pain, or bone pain
RARE
  • Allergic reactions like skin rash, swollen eyes, or shortness of breath
  • Severe allergic reactions, including anaphylactic shock
  • Strange dreams or nightmares
  • Severe digestive issues like severe diarrhea, vomiting, stomach pain, or nausea

Important Warnings

  • Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to plerixafor or any other ingredients.
  • Tell your doctor if you have or have had heart problems.
  • Inform your doctor if you have kidney problems, as your dose may need to be changed.
  • Tell your doctor if you have a high white blood cell count.
  • Inform your doctor if you have a low platelet count.

  • Tell your doctor if you have ever felt dizzy, weak, or fainted when standing up, sitting down, or after an injection.
  • Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant or think you might be pregnant. Use birth control if you can get pregnant.
  • Do not breastfeed while using this medicine.
  • This medicine can cause dizziness or tiredness. Do not drive or operate machinery if you feel dizzy or unwell.
  • Get medical help right away if you get a rash, swollen eyes, shortness of breath, feel weak when standing up or sitting, or faint shortly after getting the injection.
  • Tell your doctor right away if you have pain in your upper left belly or left shoulder.
  • Tell your doctor right away if you have chest discomfort, as there's a rare risk of heart attack, especially if you have other risk factors.
