How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is 5 mg once daily; the usual maintenance dose is 5-10 mg once daily. Your doctor may adjust the dose.

Method

Take the tablet in the morning with water. Do not split, crush, or chew the tablet. You can take it on an empty stomach or with a light, low-fat meal.

Important

The maximum recommended daily dose is 10 mg.

  • Skin reactions due to increased sensitivity to sunlight
  • Inflammation of small skin blood vessels
  • Frequent urination
  • Hypersensitivity reactions, such as fever or swelling of lips and tongue

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Plendil if you are pregnant. Tell your doctor immediately if you become pregnant.
  • Do not use if you are allergic to felodipine or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have untreated heart failure, a recent heart attack, severe chest pain, or certain heart valve or heart muscle diseases, unless you've discussed it with your doctor first.
  • Plendil can rarely cause very low blood pressure, which may lead to dizziness and chest pain. Seek immediate medical help if you experience these symptoms.
  • Do not drink grapefruit juice while taking Plendil, as it can increase the medicine's effects and side effects.

  • Plendil is not recommended for children.
  • Talk to your doctor before using Plendil if you have liver problems.
  • Avoid natural products containing St. John's Wort, as they can reduce the effectiveness of Plendil.
  • Be careful when driving or operating machinery, especially at the start of treatment, as you may experience headache, dizziness, or tiredness.
  • Plendil can cause swollen gums. Good oral hygiene helps prevent this.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. Significant adverse effects include ankle oedema and orthostatic hypotension. Consider potential interactions. Avoid grapefruit. (updated 17.2.2025)
