  • Do not use if you have severe scarring of the lining of your abdomen that causes it to not work properly (peritoneal dysfunction).
  • If you experience stomach pain, fever, or notice cloudy or lumpy fluid when draining, contact your healthcare team immediately. These could be signs of peritonitis (infection of the abdominal lining).
  • You are at higher risk of developing severe lactic acidosis (too much acid in your blood) if you have very low blood pressure, a blood infection, sudden kidney failure, a hereditary metabolic disorder, or if you use metformin or certain HIV medicines.

  • If you have diabetes and use this product, your insulin or other diabetes medication dose may need to be adjusted, especially when starting or changing peritoneal dialysis.
  • If you have a corn allergy, stop the infusion immediately and drain the fluid from your abdomen, as it can cause severe allergic reactions.
  • Your doctor will regularly check your blood potassium levels. If they become too low, you may be given potassium chloride to correct the deficiency.
  • If clamps are used incorrectly or tubes are flushed in the wrong order, air can enter your abdomen, potentially causing stomach pain and/or peritonitis.
  • If you infuse an unmixed solution, drain it immediately and use a newly mixed solution bag.
  • Encapsulating Peritoneal Sclerosis (EPS) is a rare but serious complication of peritoneal dialysis. It causes inflammation in the abdomen and thickening of the intestines, leading to stomach pain, bloating, and vomiting. EPS can be fatal.
