How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is one 4 mg tablet once daily. Your doctor may increase the dose if needed.

Method

Take the tablet with a glass of water every morning before breakfast. The tablet can be divided into two equal halves.

Important

The maximum daily dose is usually 8 mg once daily.

RARE
  • Sudden swelling of face, lips, tongue, throat, or difficulty breathing (angioedema) – seek immediate medical help.
  • Severe dizziness or fainting due to low blood pressure.
  • Unusual fast or irregular heartbeat, chest pain (angina pectoris), or heart attack.
  • Weakness in limbs or speech problems, which could be signs of a stroke.
  • Sudden wheezing, chest tightness, or shortness of breath (bronchospasm).
  • Inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis) causing severe stomach and back pain, and feeling very unwell.
  • Yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), which may be a sign of liver inflammation.
  • Rash that often starts with red, itchy patches on the face, arms, or legs (erythema multiforme).
  • Mood or sleep problems, depression, drowsiness, fainting.
  • Heart palpitations, fast heartbeat.
  • Dry mouth, increased sensitivity to sunlight (photosensitivity reaction).
  • Intense itching or severe rash, blistering of the skin, sweating.
  • Joint pain, muscle pain, impotence, chest pain, feeling unwell, swelling of extremities, fever.
  • Changes in blood tests (e.g., high potassium, low sodium, low blood sugar in diabetics, increased urea/creatinine).
  • Dark urine, confusion, seizures, redness, reduced or no urine output, acute kidney failure, worsening of psoriasis.
  • Confusion, eosinophilic pneumonia (a rare type of lung inflammation), blocked or runny nose (rhinitis), changes in blood count (e.g., low white or red blood cells, low hemoglobin, low platelets).
  • Color change, numbness, and pain in fingers or toes (Raynaud's phenomenon).

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to perindopril or similar medicines (ACE inhibitors). Tell your doctor immediately if you experience sudden swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat, or have difficulty breathing (angioedema).
  • Do not use this medicine if you are more than 3 months pregnant or planning to become pregnant, as it can harm your baby.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have diabetes or kidney disease and are taking a medicine containing aliskiren, or if you are taking a medicine called sacubitril/valsartan for heart failure.
  • If you feel dizzy or faint after the first dose or when the dose is increased, tell your doctor.
  • Tell your doctor or dentist that you are taking this medicine before any surgery or procedure.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Reduce the dose in moderately severe renal impairment. Monitor renal function and potassium concentrations during the pharmacotherapy. Avoid concurrent use of NSAIDs. (updated 14.4.2025)
