How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you how many Pentiro tablets to take each day.

Method

Always take one Pentiro tablet at a time. The tablets should not be broken or divided into smaller pieces.

Important

Do not take more than 10 tablets per day for 50mg, 100mg, or 150mg strengths. Do not exceed 8 tablets for 175mg, or 7 tablets for 200mg strength.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Uncontrolled movements (dyskinesia)
  • Feeling sick (nausea)
  • Harmless reddish-brown urine discoloration
  • Muscle pain
  • Diarrhea
  • Urinary tract infection
  • Feeling faint or dizzy due to low blood pressure, high blood pressure
  • Worsening Parkinson's symptoms, dizziness, drowsiness
  • Vomiting, stomach pain and discomfort, heartburn, dry mouth, constipation
  • Sleep problems, hallucinations, confusion, abnormal dreams (including nightmares), tiredness
  • Mood changes – including memory problems, anxiety, and depression (potentially with suicidal thoughts)
  • Heart or artery events (e.g., chest pain), irregular heartbeat or rhythm
  • Increased tendency to fall
  • Shortness of breath
  • Increased sweating, rash
  • Muscle cramps, swollen legs
  • Blurred vision
  • Anemia
  • Loss of appetite, weight loss
  • Headache, joint pain
RARE
  • Heart attack
  • Gastrointestinal bleeding
  • Blood cell changes that can lead to bleeding, abnormal liver function test results
  • Seizures
  • Agitation
  • Psychotic symptoms
  • Colitis (inflammation of the large intestine)
  • Discoloration of non-urine (e.g., skin, nails, hair, or sweat)
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Inability to urinate
  • Hepatitis (liver inflammation)
  • Itching
  • Strong craving for higher doses of Pentiro than needed to control motor symptoms, known as dopamine dysregulation syndrome. Some patients experience severe involuntary movements (dyskinesia), mood changes, or other side effects with higher doses of Pentiro.
  • Impulse control disorders, such as: strong urge to gamble, increased sexual interest or behavior, uncontrolled excessive shopping or spending, binge eating or compulsive eating.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to levodopa, carbidopa, entacapone, soy, peanuts, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have narrow-angle glaucoma (an eye disease).
  • Do not take if you have a tumor in your adrenal gland.
  • Do not take if you are using certain types of antidepressants (combinations of selective MAO-A and MAO-B inhibitors, or non-selective MAO inhibitors).
  • Do not take if you have had neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS – a rare reaction to medicines used for severe mental disorders).

  • Do not take if you have severe liver disease.
