Pentiro

Pentiro contains three active ingredients (levodopa, carbidopa, and entacapone) and is used to treat Parkinson's disease symptoms by increasing dopamine in the brain.

How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will prescribe the exact dose of Pentiro for your needs. Take one tablet at a time.

Method

Take the tablet whole, with water, with or without food. Ensure there is at least one hour between doses.

Important

Do not take more than 7 to 10 tablets per day, depending on the tablet strength. Always follow your doctor's instructions.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Involuntary movements (dyskinesia)
  • Feeling sick (nausea)
  • Harmless reddish-brown discoloration of urine
  • Muscle pain
  • Diarrhea
  • Urinary tract infection
  • Feeling faint or dizzy due to low blood pressure, high blood pressure
  • Worsening of Parkinson's disease symptoms, dizziness, drowsiness
  • Vomiting, abdominal pain and discomfort, heartburn, dry mouth, constipation
  • Difficulty sleeping, seeing or hearing things that are not real (hallucinations), confusion, unusual dreams (including nightmares), feeling tired
  • Mood changes (including memory problems, anxiety, and depression with suicidal thoughts)
  • Heart problems (e.g., chest pain), irregular heartbeat or rhythm
  • Increased tendency to fall
  • Shortness of breath
  • Increased sweating, rash
  • Muscle cramps, swelling of the legs or ankles
  • Blurred vision
  • Anemia (low red blood cells)
  • Loss of appetite, weight loss
  • Headache, joint pain
RARE
  • Heart attack
  • Bleeding in the digestive system
  • Changes in blood cells, potentially leading to bleeding
  • Abnormal liver function tests
  • Seizures
  • Agitation
  • Psychotic symptoms
  • Inflammation of the large intestine (colitis)
  • Discoloration of non-urine (e.g., skin, nails, hair, sweat)
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Inability to urinate
  • Liver inflammation (hepatitis)
  • Itching
  • Dopamine dysregulation syndrome (craving higher doses, unusual involuntary movements, mood swings)
  • Impulse control disorders (e.g., strong urges to gamble, overeat, shop excessively, or increased sexual urges)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to levodopa, carbidopa, entacapone, soy, peanuts, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have narrow-angle glaucoma, an adrenal gland tumor, severe liver disease, or are taking certain types of antidepressants.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you develop sudden severe muscle stiffness, twitching, tremors, fever, confusion, or a rapid or irregular heartbeat, as these could be signs of a serious condition.
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you experience an allergic reaction, such as hives, itching, rash, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, or difficulty breathing.
  • Be careful when driving or operating machinery if you feel drowsy or fall asleep suddenly, as this medication can affect your alertness.

  • Tell your doctor if you notice unusual urges or changes in behavior, such as excessive gambling, eating, spending, or increased sexual urges.
  • Do not stop taking this medication suddenly without your doctor's advice, as it can worsen your symptoms and cause unwanted side effects.
  • Pentiro is not recommended for children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
  • Do not breastfeed while taking this medication.
