How to Use

Dosage

The recommended dose of Pemetrexed Zentiva is 500 mg per square meter of body surface area.

Method

You will always receive Pemetrexed Zentiva as an infusion into a vein. The infusion takes about 10 minutes.

Important

You will usually receive the infusion once every three weeks.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Infection
  • Sore throat
  • Low numbers of blood cells (like white blood cells or red blood cells, which can cause anemia)
  • Pain, redness, swelling, or sores in the mouth
  • Loss of appetite
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea
  • Skin rash
  • Peeling skin
  • Abnormal blood tests showing reduced kidney function
  • Fatigue (tiredness)
  • Blood infection
  • Fever with low neutrophil counts
  • Low platelet count
  • Allergic reaction
  • Dehydration
  • Changes in taste
  • Nerve damage in arms and legs, causing muscle weakness and wasting
  • Nerve damage causing numbness, burning pain, or unsteady walking
  • Dizziness
  • Inflammation or swelling of the conjunctiva (membrane lining eyelids and covering the white part of the eye)
  • Dry or watery eyes, irritation, or pain
  • Swollen eyelids
  • Heart failure (weakened heart muscle)
  • Irregular heartbeat
  • Indigestion
  • Constipation
  • Abdominal pain
  • Increased liver enzymes in blood tests
  • Increased skin pigmentation
  • Itching
  • Ring-shaped skin rash
  • Hair loss
  • Hives
  • Kidney failure or reduced kidney function
  • Pain
  • Excess fluid in body tissues causing swelling
  • Chest pain
  • Inflammation and sores in the lining of the digestive tract
RARE
  • Reduced red, white blood cell and platelet counts
  • Stroke (including artery blockage in the brain or bleeding inside the skull)
  • Angina pectoris (chest pain due to reduced blood flow to the heart)
  • Heart attack
  • Narrowing or blockage of coronary arteries
  • Fast heartbeat
  • Poor blood flow to limbs
  • Blood clots in the lung (pulmonary embolism)
  • Inflammation and scarring of the lung lining causing breathing problems
  • Bright red blood from the anus, gastrointestinal bleeding, or bowel rupture
  • Inflammation of the esophageal lining
  • Colitis (inflammation of the large intestine wall, possibly with bleeding)
  • Skin redness or rash in areas previously treated with radiation therapy
  • Severe allergic reaction (anaphylactic shock)
  • Liver inflammation
  • Skin and soft tissue infections
  • Severe skin reactions, which can be life-threatening, causing rashes, blisters, and peeling skin
  • Skin problems like rashes and blisters on arms, legs, or belly; fragile skin that blisters easily; red, painful, and swollen skin, especially on lower legs; itchy, red, cracked, and rough skin
  • Serious kidney problems where kidney cells die, or a type of diabetes related to kidney issues

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to pemetrexed or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not breastfeed during treatment with Pemetrexed Zentiva.
  • Do not use if you have recently received or are about to receive a yellow fever vaccine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have kidney problems, as Pemetrexed Zentiva may not be suitable for you.
  • You will have blood tests before each infusion to check your kidney and liver function and blood cell counts.

  • If you have fluid around your lungs, your doctor might drain it before treatment.
