How to Use

Dosage

The dose of Pemetrexed Stada is 500 mg for each square meter of your body surface.

Method

This medicine is given as an infusion into a vein, which takes about 10 minutes.

Important

You usually receive this infusion once every 3 weeks.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Infection
  • Sore throat
  • Low levels of certain white blood cells (neutrophils)
  • Low white blood cell count
  • Low red blood cell count (anemia)
  • Pain, redness, swelling, or sores in the mouth
  • Loss of appetite
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea (feeling sick)
  • Skin rash
  • Peeling skin
  • Abnormal blood test results showing poor kidney function
  • Tiredness (fatigue)
  • Blood infection
  • Fever with low levels of certain white blood cells (neutrophils)
  • Low platelet count
  • Allergic reactions
  • Dehydration
  • Changes in taste
  • Muscle weakness or wasting due to nerve damage, mainly in arms and legs
  • Loss of sensation, burning pain, or unsteady gait due to nerve damage
  • Dizziness
  • Inflammation or swelling of the eye lining (conjunctiva)
  • Dry eyes
  • Watery eyes
  • Dryness of the eye lining and cornea
  • Swollen eyelids
  • Eye problems such as dryness, tearing, irritation, and/or pain
  • Heart failure (a condition affecting the heart muscle's pumping strength)
  • Irregular heartbeat
  • Indigestion
  • Constipation
  • Abdominal pain
  • Increased liver enzyme levels in the blood
  • Increased skin pigmentation
  • Itching
  • Ring-shaped skin rash
  • Hair loss
  • Hives
  • Kidney failure
  • Decreased kidney function

  • Swelling caused by excess fluid in the body
  • Chest pain
  • Inflammation and sores in the lining of the digestive tract
RARE
  • Decreased red and white blood cells, and platelets
  • Stroke
  • Type of stroke where an artery to the brain is blocked
  • Bleeding inside the skull
  • Angina (chest pain due to reduced blood flow to the heart)
  • Heart attack
  • Narrowing or blockage of coronary arteries
  • Increased heart rate
  • Reduced blood flow to the limbs
  • Blood clot in the lung artery (pulmonary embolism)
  • Breathing problems due to lung lining inflammation and scarring
  • Bright red bleeding from the anus
  • Bleeding in the digestive tract
  • Ruptured bowel
  • Inflammation of the esophageal lining
  • Inflammation of the colon lining, possibly with bleeding from the intestines or rectum (seen with cisplatin)
  • Inflammation, swelling, redness, and erosion of the esophageal lining caused by radiation therapy
  • Lung inflammation caused by radiation therapy
  • Destruction of red blood cells
  • Severe allergic reaction (anaphylactic shock)
  • Liver inflammation
  • Skin redness
  • Rash that develops in areas previously treated with radiation therapy
  • Skin and soft tissue infections
  • Stevens-Johnson syndrome (a severe, life-threatening skin and mucous membrane reaction)
  • Toxic epidermal necrolysis (a severe, life-threatening skin reaction)
  • Autoimmune disorder causing rash and blisters on legs, arms, and abdomen
  • Skin inflammation with fluid-filled blisters
  • Fragile skin, blisters, erosions, and scarring of the skin
  • Redness, pain, and swelling mainly in the lower legs
  • Inflammation of the skin and subcutaneous fat (pseudocellulitis)
  • Inflammation of the skin (dermatitis)
  • Inflamed, itchy, red, cracked, and rough skin
  • Severely itchy bumps
  • A type of diabetes caused by kidney disease
  • Kidney disorder involving the death of tubular epithelial cells (which form kidney tubules)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to pemetrexed or any other ingredients.
  • Do not use if you are breastfeeding; you must stop breastfeeding during treatment.
  • Do not use if you have recently received or are about to receive a yellow fever vaccine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have kidney problems, as you may not be able to take Pemetrexed Stada.
  • Tell your doctor if you have received or will receive radiation therapy, as this can cause side effects.

  • Tell your doctor if you have been recently vaccinated, as this medicine can cause problems with vaccinations.
  • Tell your doctor if you have or have had heart disease.
  • If you have fluid around your lungs, your doctor may need to remove it before treatment.
  • This medicine is not for children or teenagers under 18 years old.
  • If you are pregnant or plan to get pregnant, ask your doctor for advice. This medicine should not be used during pregnancy.
  • Women must use effective birth control during treatment and for 6 months after the last dose.
  • Men must use effective birth control and avoid fathering children during treatment and for 3 months after the last dose.
  • This medicine can make you feel tired. Be careful when driving or using machines.
