Pazopanib Glenmark is a medicine that stops cancer cells from growing and spreading, used for advanced kidney cancer and certain soft tissue sarcomas in adults.

How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is 800 mg once a day. This can be taken as four 200 mg tablets or two 400 mg tablets.

Method

Take the tablets whole with water, without food. This means at least two hours after a meal or one hour before a meal. Do not break or crush the tablets.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 800 mg.

Possible Side Effects

  • High blood pressure
  • Diarrhea
  • Feeling sick (nausea or vomiting)
  • Stomach pain
  • Loss of appetite
  • Weight loss
  • Changes in taste or loss of taste
  • Sore mouth
  • Headache
  • Tumour pain
  • Weakness, feeling weak or tired
  • Changes in hair colour
  • Unusual hair loss or thinning hair
  • Loss of skin colour (pigment)
  • Rash, possibly with skin peeling
  • Redness and swelling of palms or soles
  • Increased liver enzyme levels
  • Low blood albumin levels
  • Protein in urine
  • Decreased platelet count
  • Decreased white blood cell count
  • Indigestion, bloating, gas
  • Nosebleed
  • Dry mouth or mouth sores
  • Infections
  • Abnormal tiredness
  • Sleep problems
  • Chest pain, shortness of breath, leg pain, and swelling in legs/feet (signs of blood clot)
  • Heart not pumping blood effectively (heart dysfunction)
  • Slow heart rate
  • Bleeding from mouth, rectum, or lungs
  • Dizziness
  • Blurred vision
  • Hot flashes
  • Swelling in face, hands, ankles, feet, or eyelids (fluid retention)
  • Tingling, weakness or numbness in hands, feet or limbs
  • Skin problems, redness, itching, dry skin
  • Nail problems
  • Burning, stinging, itching, or tingling sensation on skin
  • Feeling cold, chills
  • Excessive sweating
  • Dehydration
  • Muscle pain, joint pain, tendon pain, chest pain, muscle cramps
  • Hoarseness
  • Shortness of breath
  • Cough
  • Coughing up blood
  • Hiccups
  • Collapsed lung (pneumothorax), causing shortness of breath
  • Underactive thyroid
  • Liver function disorders
  • Elevated bilirubin levels
  • Elevated lipase levels
  • Elevated creatinine levels
  • Changes in levels of other chemicals/enzymes in blood
RARE
  • Stroke
  • Temporary reduced blood supply to the brain (TIA)
  • Heart attack (myocardial infarction)
  • Partial lack of blood supply to heart muscle (myocardial ischemia)
  • Blood clots with reduced red blood cells and clotting cells (thrombotic microangiopathy)
  • Increased red blood cell count
  • Sudden shortness of breath, especially with sharp chest pain and/or rapid breathing (pulmonary embolism)
  • Severe bleeding in the digestive system, kidneys, vagina, or brain
  • Heart rhythm disorder (QT prolongation)
  • Stomach or bowel perforation (hole)
  • Abnormal connection between parts of the bowel (fistula)
  • Heavy or irregular menstruation
  • Sudden, severe increase in blood pressure (hypertensive crisis)
  • Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas)
  • Hepatitis, liver dysfunction, or liver damage
  • Yellowing of skin and eyes (jaundice)
  • Inflammation of abdominal membrane (peritonitis)
  • Runny nose
  • Itchy or inflamed rash (flat or raised spots or blisters)
  • Increased bowel movements
  • Increased sensitivity to sunlight
  • Reduced sensitivity, especially of skin
  • Skin ulcer that does not heal
  • Lung inflammation (pneumonitis)
  • Enlargement and weakening of a blood vessel wall or rupture of a blood vessel wall (aneurysms and arterial dissections)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Pazopanib Glenmark if you are allergic to pazopanib or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have heart or liver disease, or if you have had heart failure or a heart attack.
  • This medicine can raise your blood pressure. Your blood pressure will be checked regularly. Tell your doctor if you have high blood pressure.
  • Do not take Pazopanib Glenmark with food or grapefruit juice, as this can affect how the medicine works and increase side effects.
  • Use effective contraception during treatment and for 2 weeks after. Do not breastfeed. Male patients with a pregnant partner must use a condom.
