Pazopanib Glenmark

Pazopanib Glenmark is a medicine that blocks certain proteins to stop cancer cells from growing and spreading in adults with kidney cancer or certain types of soft tissue sarcoma.

How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is 800 mg, taken as four 200 mg tablets or two 400 mg tablets.

Method

Take the tablets whole with water; do not break or crush them. Take this medicine without food, at least two hours after a meal or one hour before a meal, at approximately the same time each day.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 800 mg.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • High blood pressure
  • Diarrhea
  • Feeling sick (nausea or vomiting)
  • Stomach pain
  • Loss of appetite
  • Weight loss
  • Taste changes or loss of taste
  • Mouth pain or sores
  • Headache
  • Tumor pain
  • Weakness, feeling tired or fatigued
  • Hair color changes
  • Unusual hair loss or thinning
  • Loss of skin pigment
  • Rash, possibly with peeling skin
  • Redness and swelling of palms or soles
  • Indigestion, bloating, gas
  • Nosebleeds
  • Infections
  • Abnormal tiredness
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Chest pain, shortness of breath, leg pain, and swelling in the legs/feet (signs of a blood clot)
  • Heart cannot pump blood effectively (heart dysfunction)
  • Slow heart rate
  • Bleeding from mouth, rectum, or lungs
  • Dizziness
  • Blurred vision
  • Hot flashes
  • Swelling in face, hands, ankles, feet, or eyelids due to fluid retention
  • Tingling, weakness, or numbness in hands, feet, or limbs
  • Skin problems, red skin, itchy skin, dry skin
  • Nail problems
  • Burning, stinging, itchy, or tingling sensation on the skin
  • Feeling cold, chills
  • Heavy sweating
  • Dehydration
  • Muscle pain, joint pain, tendon pain, chest pain, muscle cramps
  • Hoarseness
  • Cough
  • Coughing up blood
  • Hiccups
  • Lung collapse (pneumothorax), often causing shortness of breath
RARE
  • Stroke
  • Temporary reduced blood supply to the brain (TIA)
  • Blood clot in the heart, or heart attack
  • Reduced blood supply to part of the heart muscle
  • Blood clots with reduced red blood cells and clotting cells (TMA), which can damage organs like the brain and kidneys
  • Increased red blood cell count
  • Sudden shortness of breath, especially with sharp chest pain and/or rapid breathing (pulmonary embolism)
  • Severe bleeding in the digestive system (e.g., stomach, esophagus, or intestines), kidneys, vagina, or brain
  • Heart rhythm disorder (QT prolongation)
  • Stomach or bowel perforation (hole)
  • Abnormal connection between two parts of the intestine (fistula)
  • Heavy or irregular periods
  • Sudden, severe increase in blood pressure (hypertensive crisis)
  • Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas)
  • Liver inflammation, liver dysfunction, or liver damage
  • Yellow skin and eyes (jaundice)
  • Inflammation of the membrane lining the abdomen (peritonitis)
  • Itchy or inflamed rash (flat, raised, or blistering)
  • Increased bowel movements
  • Increased sensitivity to sunlight
  • Reduced skin sensation
  • Skin ulcer that does not heal
  • Lung inflammation (pneumonitis)
  • Enlargement or weakening of a blood vessel wall, or a tear in a blood vessel wall (aneurysms and arterial dissections)
  • Tumor lysis syndrome, caused by rapid breakdown of cancer cells
  • Liver failure

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to pazopanib or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have heart disease, heart failure, or have had a heart attack.
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver disease.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had bleeding, blood clots, or narrowed arteries.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had stomach or bowel problems like a perforation (hole) or fistula (abnormal connection).

  • Your blood pressure will be checked before and during treatment, as this medicine can raise it.
  • Stop taking this medicine at least 7 days before surgery, as it can affect wound healing.
  • Do not take with food, as food affects how the medicine is absorbed.
  • Do not drink grapefruit juice during treatment, as it can increase the risk of side effects.
  • Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Use reliable contraception during and for 2 weeks after treatment.
