How to Use

Dosage

Adults and children over 12 years (over 40 kg): Take 1-2 PARAMAX Rap 500 mg tablets by mouth every 4-6 hours, 1-3 times a day. For children 3-12 years: The dose depends on weight. A typical dose is 15 mg/kg, up to 3 times a day. Do not give more than this without a doctor's order. Specific doses for children by weight: 17-25 kg: 1 PARAMAX Junior 250 mg tablet every 4-6 hours, 1-3 times a day; 25-32 kg: 1-2 PARAMAX Junior 250 mg tablets every 4-6 hours, 1-3 times a day; Over 32 kg: 1 PARAMAX Rap 500 mg tablet every 4-6 hours, 1-3 times a day. For children under 3 years, only use as directed by a doctor for continuous use.

Method

Take the tablets by mouth.

Important

Do not take more than the recommended dose or more often than 3 times a day without talking to a doctor. Taking too much can harm your liver.

  • a serious condition where your blood can become too acidic (metabolic acidosis), especially in very sick patients

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to paracetamol or any other ingredients in it.
  • Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine if you have kidney or liver problems, or if you regularly drink a lot of alcohol.
  • Tell your doctor right away if you have serious kidney failure, sepsis (a severe infection where bacteria are in your blood), are very thin, have a history of heavy drinking, or are taking flucloxacillin (an antibiotic). These conditions can increase the risk of a serious blood issue called metabolic acidosis.
  • Symptoms of metabolic acidosis include severe trouble breathing (deep and fast), feeling sleepy, sick to your stomach, and throwing up.
  • To avoid taking too much, check that other medicines you are using do not also contain paracetamol.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. The recommended maximum dose for long-term use is 2 grams per day. Can be used concurrently with warfarin only if INR values are monitored. Consider paracetamol in OTC drugs and combination products. Risk of poisoning with daily doses over 4 grams. (updated 14.4.2025)
