How to Use

Dosage

Adults and children over 12 years (or over 40 kg): 1-2 PARAMAX Rap 500 mg tablets every 4-6 hours. Children 3-12 years: Dose is based on weight, usually 15 mg/kg.

Method

Take the tablets by mouth.

Important

Adults and children over 12 years (or over 40 kg): Do not take more than 3 doses per day. Children under 12 years: Do not take more than 3 doses per day (15 mg/kg) without a doctor's prescription.

  • Stomach pain
  • Constipation
  • Skin redness
  • Severe allergic reactions, such as sudden swelling of the face, lips, mouth, throat, or around the eyes, which may cause difficulty breathing (angioedema).
  • Severe skin reactions.
  • A severe condition that can increase blood acidity (metabolic acidosis) in patients with severe illness who are using paracetamol.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to paracetamol or any other ingredient in it.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have kidney or liver problems, or if you drink a lot of alcohol regularly.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you have a severe illness (like severe kidney failure or blood infection), are malnourished, have chronic alcoholism, or are taking flucloxacillin (an antibiotic), as this can cause a serious condition called metabolic acidosis.
  • Make sure other medicines you take do not contain paracetamol to avoid an overdose.
  • See a doctor if you don't feel better after 3 days or if your condition gets worse.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. The recommended maximum dose for long-term use is 2 grams per day. Can be used concurrently with warfarin only if INR values are monitored. Consider paracetamol in OTC drugs and combination products. Risk of poisoning with daily doses over 4 grams. (updated 14.4.2025)
