How to Use

Dosage

Adults and children over 12 years: Take 1-2 tablets every 4-6 hours.

Method

Swallow the tablets with plenty of water.

Important

Do not take more than 6 tablets in 24 hours.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to paracetamol, codeine, or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have severe breathing problems or severe asthma.
  • Do not use if you have spasms in your bile ducts, urinary tract, or intestines.
  • Not for children and adolescents (0-18 years) after tonsil or adenoid removal for obstructive sleep apnea.
  • Do not use if you know your body converts codeine to morphine too quickly.

  • Do not use if you are breastfeeding.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have lung, liver, or kidney problems, increased pressure in your brain, bile duct or urinary tract problems, an enlarged prostate, or constipation.
  • Alcohol with this medicine can increase side effects and the risk of liver damage.
  • Long-term use can harm your kidneys.
  • Be careful if you are taking other medicines that make you drowsy.
  • If you experience slow or shallow breathing, confusion, severe drowsiness, small pupils, nausea, vomiting, constipation, or loss of appetite, stop taking the medicine and contact a doctor immediately.
  • Not recommended for children with breathing difficulties due to the risk of morphine toxicity.
  • Long-term use during pregnancy is not recommended.
  • This medicine can cause drowsiness and affect your ability to drive or operate machinery.
  • Do not use this medicine for more than 3 days. Contact a doctor if your pain does not get better.
  • Children under 12 years should not use PARAMAX-COD.
  • Talk to your doctor if you are taking flucloxacillin (an antibiotic), as it can cause a serious blood and fluid imbalance.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category A

Suitable for older adults. The recommended maximum dose for long-term use is 2 grams per day. Can be used concurrently with warfarin only if INR values are monitored. Consider paracetamol in OTC drugs and combination products. Risk of poisoning with daily doses over 4 grams. (updated 14.4.2025)
