How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor or nurse will determine your dose based on your weight and health.

Method

This medicine is given as a slow drip (infusion) into a vein over 15 minutes.

Important

The maximum daily dose is adjusted by your doctor, usually up to 4 grams for adults, but may be lower depending on your health.

Possible Side Effects

RARE
  • Feeling unwell, a drop in blood pressure, or changes in liver test results (higher liver enzymes).
  • Severe skin rash or allergic reactions (stop treatment and tell your doctor), or changes in blood tests showing fewer blood cells (platelets, white blood cells), which can cause nosebleeds or bleeding gums.
  • Skin redness, flushing, itching, an unusually fast heartbeat, or pain and burning at the injection site.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to paracetamol or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have severe liver disease.
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems, or if you drink a lot of alcohol.
  • Do not take other medicines that contain paracetamol at the same time to avoid overdose.
  • Tell your doctor if you are malnourished or dehydrated.

  • Seek immediate medical help if you experience severe breathing difficulties, fast breathing, drowsiness, nausea, or vomiting, as these can be signs of a serious condition called metabolic acidosis.
  • Tell your doctor about all other medicines you are taking, especially blood thinners or the antibiotic flucloxacillin.
